Fishkeepers Needed for Aquarium Substrate Research

Waltham Petcare Science Institute and the University of the West of Scotland are looking for home aquarium owners to provide substrate samples for ongoing research.

The two institutions are investigating the use of substrate in home aquaria and how this impacts microbial communities and fish behaviour and welfare. They need samples from both freshwater and marine aquariums to be sent to them for analysis.

Survey packs will be mailed out, and collecting and submitting samples should take just 30 minutes to complete. Further to aiding a better understanding of the effects of substrate type on fish welfare, each participant will also be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a £100 Amazon gift voucher.
