At Your Aquarium, we’ve always served parts of the Ribble Valley. Our work has taken us to South Ribble villages like Samlesbury, plus Longridge, Ribchester, and Whalley. 1950s Clitheroe from the book John Chapman’s Lancashire, by Ribble Valley artist John L. Chapman. Born in Blackburn in 1946 and now a resident of Ramsgreave, Chapman is an acclaimed local artist and long-term hospice supporter.
Last year, the artist kindly donated 60 of his paintings to be auctioned at Mytton Fold Hotel. Proceeds from the sale of the Ribble Valley-based artist’s works were donated to the East Lancashire Hospice.

Established around its famous castle, the well-known town of Clitheroe continues to grow. New development in the town means it’s now home to more people and businesses than ever.
Clitheroe has long been home to numerous fantastic locally owned, independent shops, restaurants, and other outfits. Several of these are centred around the popular Swan Courtyard. The Forest of Bowland, mostly in northeasternmost Lancashire and with a small part in North Yorkshire, is a western outlier of the Pennines. The Forest of Bowland was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1964 and also includes a detached part known as the Forest of Pendle.
The Forest of Pendle is separated from the main Forest of Bowland by the Ribble Valley. Together, the Forest of Pendle and Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is home to over 500 listed buildings.
