Aquatics Brand King British Marks Half-Century in Business

The established aquatics brand King British is celebrating 50 years of keeping the country’s fish healthy in 2022.

With a vast range of products from food to tap water conditioner, the company started trading in 1972 in Bradford, around half an hour from Rochdale. King British then moved production to its current location in Gainsborough in 1999 before joining the Beaphar family of companies in 2007.

From its inception, with a mission to support the nation’s aquatic life, King British has been a prominent company in the aquarium industry as well as in the local town of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. Over the years, its portfolio has grown significantly, providing retailers and fish owners with an array of high-quality and affordable products in the process.

Over the last 50 years, key highlights include award-winning recognition from industry affiliations such as Pet Product Marketing. King British also holds a Guinness World Record for the largest fish flake in the world (not to be confused with the largest fishcake). At a massive one metre across, the flake was deemed to be the largest ever produced. Around a decade on, it still takes pride of place in the King British factory.

A variety of celebrations are planned by King British over the coming months. To find out more or for the full history of the brand, visit the official King British website.
